The Old City of Herat is the capital city of the Herat province in Afghanistan. It depicts true ancient Islamic architecture, and was invaded and destroyed many times in the past. During 1221 AD and 1383, Herat was razed by the Mongols. In the 15th century saw the city of Heart was the capital city of the Timurid Empire that established its rule in Central Asia. The Old City of Herat has been through several cultures and influences yet still it retains its Islamic foundation, which can be seen in most of the places around the city.
