The Experience
If you think Italy is all romance, glamour, fine cuisine and artistry, then think again. Italy is famous for brand names in fashion, automobiles and motor cycles. It is also known for being the best place to eat pasta and pizza. It is one of the best places to admire acclaimed art works of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Donatello and many more. Italy is also known for romantic places like Venice and Florence. But there is much more to Italy than meets the eye. It is also a place for those who are looking for adventure with nature.
Sardinia is as blue as you can ever imagine. It is the perfect destination for divers, beach lovers and yes, trekking. It is the best place in Italy to be one with the ocean and its seemingly infinite wonders. It is in Sardinia where the dangerously famous Salvaggio Blu takes place. Salvaggio Blu Trek is the extreme activity that this wild “blu lagoon” is offering to those who aren’t faint at heart. Salvaggio or Selvaggio in older term means wild or uncouth; a very apt name for this seriously challenging trek.
Trek Salvaggio Blu is not your ordinary trekking expedition. It is actually a quest or a journey from the town of Santa Maria de Navarrese all the way to pristine white sand beach of Cala Luna. It is hailed as one of the most challenging and wildest trekking expeditions in Italy and probably the world as well. For those who have already experienced it, it is a challenge worth taking again. For those who haven’t tried then this is the perfect time to engage in an extreme adventure!

When to Go
If you are still thinking about it, then this is a good account of the trek you might want to read and consider. It is a seven day of fun, adventure and being one with nature!
Day 1: Rendezvous at Santa Maria Navarrese going to Pedralonga
Day 2: Pedralonga to Portu Quau, via Portu Pedrosu.
Day 3: Portu Pedrosu and then descend to the wonderful beach of Goloritzè, through Punta Salinas.
Part of the route goes along the edge of the 200 meter high cliffs over the sea. This route added
to the exciting danger and extremeness of the trek. It was also one of the more exciting part of
the expedition.
Day 4: Cala Goloritzè going to the area of Ololbizzi along the Boladina Canyon. A fun and picturesque
part of the trek. Trekkers enjoyed the wonderful landscape view of the Canyon.
Day 5: Arrive at the Beach near Ololbizzi to Cala Sisine
Day 6: Head to the beautiful beach at Cala Luna, via the Sedda Eranu pass. There you can already take a
boat back to Santa Maria Navarrese or to Cala Gonone.
It is highly recommended though, that you take this expedition seriously, go with a guided tour or bring someone who is already a professional in Salvaggio Blu Trek. This experience will leave you with mixed feelings of being contented and yet wanting for more.
The months of April and June are the ideal months to take part on this trek. The weather is perfect and visibility is absolutely clear. These are two very important considerations because the weather will determine almost half of the success and safety of Trek Salvaggio Blu. Other months would be too cold, foggy, humid or hot.

- Get Locked into History at the Elmina Slave Castle
- As the door slammed shut, a wave of claustrophobia enveloped the thirty-two people crammed into a dingy cell at the Elmina Castle on the Ghanaian Gold Coast. The cells here are no bigger than an average closet, and the only light which can be seen from the inside is a small square of light at the door. Everything inside the cell was black and quiet except for the breathing of those people around me. A few moments later, the door swung open and my lungs breathed in fresh air with relief. The staggering moment came when our tour guide informed ...364 miles away.

- My heart pounds as I look over the landscape. Taking the first step is key to one of the greatest experiences I'll have in Ghana, if I can just get over the height. One deep breathe in and I'm going for it. Stepping onto the first bridge feels like freedom in the sky. It's a shaky freedom for me but freedom nonetheless. Exploring Kakum National Park in central Ghana provides an exhilarating close look at African nature. At 40 meters high in some areas, taking a canopy tour over the Kakum rainforest feels like a walk in the clouds. North ...386 miles away.
