When to Go

There's so many great times to visit the Top of the Rock that it's difficult to narrow it down to one "best" time of the day or year. So look ahead to what interests you and plan accordingly so you can combine your observation deck visit with a viewing of NBC's Today Show, a show at the Radio City Music Hall across the street, or a beautiful view of the city, including the Empire State Building, as the lights twinkle on at sunset across and beyond Manhattan. And if you're in town during the Christmas season, don't forget the iconic Christmas tree and ice skating rink located on the east side of the building!

If you plan to be in New York City for a few days to see the sights, be sure to pick up a City Pass since, for one fee, it allows you admission to many great spots. It's also possible to skip the longer general admission lines in favor of the VIP ones with the pass, and thus save a bit of time in the lines.
