Pet a Ray at Stingray City in the Grand Cayman Islands

Created on March 12, 2009 by Megan Pasche, Writer

The first thing you'll hear as you approach Stingray City in the Cayman Islands is the shrieking of dozens of tourists. This howling is a mixture of terror and pure excitement, as this experience brings you about as close as you are ever going to get to the very interesting (albeit very odd looking) southern stingray. Wading through the shallow waters on a sandbar in the Caribbean Sea, visitors to Stingray City are able to swim, feed and touch southern stingrays. Making the first move to touch a ray will certainly take some audacity, but after you've done it once, you'll be maneuvering through the water to get a better view and looking for another chance to feel their velvety soft skin. The great thing ...

Journey Behind the Falls at Niagara Falls

Created on March 12, 2009 by Megan Pasche, Writer

The intrigue and charm of Niagara Falls never ceases to amaze, even for a local! Having lived right next to Niagara Falls for practically my entire life, you might think Niagara Falls would lose some of its appeal. Not so. Every time I visit the Falls, I am still amazed by its beauty; its power. Nowhere is this power and beauty more evident then if you take a trip behind Niagara Falls. A quick elevator ride will take you down thirteen stories beneath the Falls, leading to a maze of tunnels. These tunnels were originally built in 1889, and back then guides led visitors through them by way of lantern. Nowadays, the operation is slightly more sophisticated, yet the basic premise is the same. Two ...

Drink a Mass at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich

Created on March 12, 2009 by Megan Pasche, Writer

Drinking a mass at the Hofbrauhaus delivers a delicious taste of Germany! This definitive Munich experience provides everything you'd expect when you think of Bavaria: oompah bands, lederhosen, and beer, all done in a big way. Waitresses whiz about the bustling hall balancing several 1 litre beer steins on a tray, as if it's nothing at all. The noisy chatter of over 4,000 thirsty patrons mixes with the catchy music coming from the lederhosen clad band. Looking around the Hofbrauhaus, you'll see people from all over the world, and undoubtedly, they will be laughing, smiling and enjoying a brew. The vigor is contagious here, you can't help but be happy, and of course a few extremely large beers doesn't hurt the cause. This massive traditional ...

Glide through a River of Grass in the Everglades

Created on January 10, 2009 by Megan Pasche, Writer

There is an eerie calm about the Everglades; there are no motorized boats allowed, and the animals that live there slip in and out of the water with hardly a splash. Look out into the swampy, grass filled water, and you will find several pairs of unblinking eyes gazing back at you. Gators. Mosquitoes buzz around your head, and it can be brutally hot depending on what time of year you visit; but this is nature at its best. Hundreds of species of birds and animals live in the Everglades, including alligators, manatees, panthers and pythons. About forty of the species that live in the Everglades are currently threatened or protected making this a very fragile ecosystem. Walking trails take you high up into the ...

Experience Dizzying Thrill as You Look Over the Edge of the Grand Canyon

Created on April 24, 2008 by Megan Pasche, Writer

There is no experience in the world like tip toeing up to the edge of the Grand Canyon, and peering down into a sight that has been millions of years in the making. Carved by the meandering Colorado River, the Grand Canyon is a staggering 277 miles long, up to 18 miles across, and one mile deep. It's a really, really, really big hole. In some spots, there is hardly a fence in site, and you are free to get as close as you dare; there is nothing between you and the mile long free fall into what seems like a bottomless pit, except for some loose rocks, and your own sense of balance. The closer you can get the better it is though, the ...
