Kathleen aka Kumiko is a dual national (Japan/U.S.) who has been traveling for as long as she can remember. On a backpacking trip to Central America, Kathleen met the love of her life. The two and their baby daughter currently live happily in Quito, Ecuador.

Although she has taken somewhat of a break from her nomadic lifestyle, Kathleen's passion for travel is still as powerful as ever and she continues to fulfill her wanderlust right at home in South America.

Harmoniously blended with its natural surroundings, the Acropolis towers gracefully over the archaeologically-rich and modern city of Athens, often referred to as the most important historical compound left behind by Greek Antiquity. The Acropolis, or city on the edge, was erected on a flat-topped rock high above the rest of the city as a form of defense. Gallivant in the Galapagos

The Galapagos Islands’ rich natural history has been fascinating the world since Charles Darwin’s famed visit aboard the Beagle in 1835. Once a hideout for pirates and a pit stop for whalers, it is now a hot spot for eco-tourism. Darwin’s exploration in the Galapagos provided the foundation for his most famous writings, The Origin of the Species, which introduces the theory of evolution. The Galapagos Islands are known by many different names, including the Enchanted Islands. Visit the Birthplace of Kung Fu at the Shaolin Temples in Henan

Thanks to numerous appearances in kung fu movies, the Shaolin Temples in the Henan Province are probably the most well-known of all temples in China. Nestled in the peaceful and beautiful Songshan Mountains, they are famed as being the birthplace of both kung fu and Chan Buddhism, aka Zen Buddhism. The "shao" in Shaolin refers to Mount Shaoshi and "lin" means “forest.” The Shaolin temples were built in approximately 497 AD to house an Indian monk named Batuo, who went to the ancient capital of Luoyang to spread Buddhism. The Indian monk most famous for his teachings at Shaolin however is Bodhidharma, who went to Shaolin in 517 AD.
