The Experience

Making instant ramen noodles at home isn't overly exciting, but visit the Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum in Osaka, Japan and making them will take on a whole different experience. Here, you get to become a part of the instant ramen noodle-making process, right from scratch. Sound interesting? Well here you are your own cook, designing your new favourite noodle and experimenting with various flavors.

The Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum houses a wide collection of the instant ramen sold over the ages. From the packaging materials to the types of instant ramen noodles, everything is on display. Though the name sounds interesting and yummy, some of the flavours Ando dreamt up are bizarre. The museum provides a perfect display of how Ando’s workshop has transformed to be the mass production house it is today. The museum walls speak of the history of instant ramen.

Attending the Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Museum’s workshop is a highlight experience. This is where you learn the noodle making process right from scratch. You begin with purchasing an empty noodle cup and end up making the most tasty and flavourful noodles you have ever tasted in your life, well hopefully. The friendly staff of the museum are at your discretion to assist you through the whole process to make it's fun, simple and tasty.

From choosing the right proportion of flour and water to make the noodle dough, through to picking out the right ingredients and spices to make the perfect ramen, your role in the process is extensive. Firstly, you knead the dough to churn out the pasta. The churned out noodles are then deep fried to preserve for up to a month, so you take them home in your personally designed pack that is vacuum-sealed by a workshop attendant. The chikin ramen is the most famous of all, and a chicken ramen preparation class has been arranged for primary school students at just 300JPY and for high school students at 500 JPY. If you do not want to be a part of the workshop, just choose to make your instant noodle from the many pre-designed ingredients ready to decorate your cup.
