Chill Out at the Goa Night Market

The Experience

There are many things to enjoy in Goa, India like the beautiful beaches or delicious seaside eats, and then there's the Goa Night Market, a place that true-loving hippies flock to as if it were the Taj Mahal. The Goa Night Market, also known as the Baga Saturday Night Market, draws some of the worlds most gifted artists and designers of all things beautiful. Want to make your house beautiful? They've got the fabric for you. Want to make yourself beautiful? They've got just the accent for you. Want to grow your spirit? They can tell you how they're growing theirs, but it might take a few rounds of Kingfishers.

Bohemian vendors from across the globe are interwoven into a glowing maze of searing reds, luminescent oranges and blazing blue splashes of colour lining local Goan vendor walls. Row upon row of stalls lean on each other, climbing higher until nearly on top of one another.

Once you get past the busy entrance and can enjoy the pace of the evening, take your time to explore the stalls, learn about the products, chat with the sellers. Locals are especially fun, that is if you like to bargain. Local vendors of the Goa Night Market are great sales people. They have just the thing for you, even if you don't know it yet. It's all in good fun though, it's a no pressure situation, and if nothing else watching someone try to sell your 6' 4" husband a tiny girls shirt is almost worth the price.

At the center of the Goa Night Market the free spirits congregate to listen to great music, dance, eat, drink and be merry! Here there is a smorgasbord of food stalls offering local fare, sushi, gyros, pizza, and plenty of vegan and vegetarian options.
In the back right, amongst more of the international designer stalls you can also enjoy cocktails and magic tequila at the Boutique House Bar.

The Goa Night Market can please the wants of almost anyone with traditional Indian fabrics, art and spices, but where it clinches the deal is in its unique designer creations of jewellery and clothes, many of which can only be found here.

When to Go to Goa Night Market

The Goa Night Market is located in Arpora and happens every Saturday from 6pm until 1amish. Many of the international designers set up shop fully by late October, early November and stick around until March, well before monsoon season hits in June.

Odds n' Ends

Parking at the Goa Saturday Night Market is free, but hard to get. If you're looking for a hotel in Goa try the Riviera de Goa, it's literally across the road.

Be sure to bring lots of cash so you don't leave behind the must have items of your Indian dreams.
